An organist since my teens, I have over 40 years experience of playing at services including weddings and funerals.
  • I can play any of the standard organ pieces required at weddings such as Wagner's Bridal March, Mendelssohn's Wedding March, Widor's Toccata, Jeremiah Clarke's Prince of Denmark's March, Purcell's Trumpet Tune, etc, etc.
  • I know all the well know hymn tunes and in fact there are not many hymns that I have not played over the years! Sometimes it is important to specify which tune is required, as there are often more than one.
  • I can sight read to a high standard, so if there is anything that I don't know it is not a problem, provided that I can find or am given the sheet music.
  • I can re-arrange most music to suit the organ on the spot, including adding chords to a melody-only copy.
  • I can play any sort of pipe organ, electronic organ, keyboard or piano, but please bear in mind that some music is not suitable for some instruments.
  • I have my own portable keyboard for venues such as chapels where an instrument is not available. A hire charge of £15 is applicable for this.
  • I will even operate a CD player etc if required!
  • I have performed several Baroque organ concertos by Arne and Handel, including "The Cuckoo and the Nightingale".
Fees
Standard fee for funerals: £120
Standard fee for weddings: £150

Additional fees may apply if the service is longer than normal, contains more complex or additional music, or for extra travelling time/distance. But please note: I do not charge extra for audio or video recordings. Many musicians charge double fees, but as it makes no difference to me whether the service is recorded or not, I prefer to charge a standard fee appropriate for my time, ability and experience.
